Review

Let me preface this next statement by saying that it does not represent the Network as a whole, just this specific reviewer goblin, but I was wary when I saw that Portuguese anarchist Luciferian Strings recorded ‘The Last Kingslayer‘ on an iPhone. Not because I hate crappy recordings, some of my fave albums were recorded in toilets, but because I feel that doing the best with what you got hits kinda different than purposefully downgrading to achieve a certain underground feeling. Welp, colour me shamed and my words are eaten, this album slaps VERY hard.

Unlike many bands who adopt a raw sound to appear “kvlt” and hide their lack of inspiration, Luciferian Strings actually plays great music and the fact they record it using the bare minimum resources needed actually works (and is pretty anarchist in mentality too). Simply put, they nail this. This is the type of dungeon synth and black metal mix that sounds like it crawls out of the musty cellar every midnight and returns before dawn carrying the severed heads of unlucky aristocrats. Godspeed creepy creature, godspeed.
