Review

We will all die. As many philosophers have put forward, this is perhaps the only certainty we have as humans, and one of the main features of the human condition. What differs is how we go through the time we have, what legacy we leave… And today, capitalism drives a large part of humanity to live in such a way that its legacy is the degradation of the world we live in, to the point that the Earth’s very capability to sustain humanity is at stake. You are not stupid, that is obvious from just looking around, and at ABMN we consider that part of the antifascist struggle is the struggle against the destruction of the environment – and thus, OUR COLLECTIVE STRUGGLE.

In that spirit, today we welcome to our channel the USian band athshe with its first EP, The Body Will Die, in which the present ambient/atmospheric black metal is in a vein somewhat similar to, say, some of the early works of Wolves In The Throne Room. The title of track 1, “The Word for World is Forest“, references anarchist writer Ursula K. Le Guin, who is close to the hearts of many of us, and who provides the quote with which we close this review, with which we are certain athshe agrees: “We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings.
