Review
Some men (well, humans, but usually men) think that, with the amount of money and power they wield, they are so above us all that they are essentially immortal. Yet history has shown that, eventually, all of them fall – and that, as well as battle against them and for the construction of a new society where those from below rule is what we at ABMN live for, and is the subject of ‘Maior que Deus‘, the long-awaited 2nd album of Southern Brazilian Hereticae.
Five years after their debut, ‘Ecos do Atlântico‘, and 3 years after we had them in the channel, the band again rises with their mix of death and black metal (skewed WAY more black now, in fact), calling to arms those who survived genocide, colonization and slavery to take their stand in the war against billionaires and their agents. Brazilian capitalism no longer has Bozonazi as its mass-murderer-in-chief, but not only has that clown openly conspired to coup the country more than once, the evils that plagued the country during his government (and, truth be told, mostly already existed) are still alive, part of them even being stimulated by the current supposedly leftist government of Lula, maybe under different names: environmental devastation is still rampant under the name of “development”, police forces grow ever more abusive and bloodthirsty, labour precarization and privatization bomb the exploited every single day, complicity for “Israel” continues and misogynistic/racist/LGBTphobic violence is only higher, and higher, and higher.
No God is coming to help us, but as Hereticae reminds us, thankfully, those against us are no gods either… and as Hitler and Stalin and Thatcher and Pinochet did, and as Netanyahu and Trump and Putin will, they eventually die. May this music be a soundtrack to hasten their paths to judgment!
