As weather gets warmer around those of us in the northern hemisphere and colder for those in the southern hemisphere we go searching for music to match these moods. Specifically, music that brings coldness to our ears and hearts whether it be through escaping the heat and treachery of the sun or matching the cold that winter brings along with uncertainty.

Today we finally get to have that in the most unholiest ways. It’s been a long time but Unholy Altar have been hard at work honing their craft since their demo came out and we are extraordinarily excited to be premiering their debut album, Veil of Death! Shroud of Nite. Let us tell you, Unholy Altar brings their unholy brand of cold, raw black metal to our ears. Their demo was a high point and it rightfully so garnered a lot of attention the more time went on and this debut is sure to give them more.

The band has since moved into being a 5 piece since the last time we saw them here at the Network and boy howdy do they sound more honed in and tight as ever. From the get-go, they launch a cold assault on the listener that’s as unrelenting as a snowstorm that causes absolute white conditions. Veil of Death! Shroud of Nite feels like the new standard of raw black metal in the 2020s.

You do not want to sleep on this, woe to those that do.
