Review
Αnd now for something completely different; some of you might remember a weird band called Sylvester Anfang that appeared twenty years ago and made some noise in the metal scene as well, using obvious black metal references and aesthetics in their ritualistic psych folk recordings that sounded like coming out of a 70’s folk horror film. This collaboration is between Glen Steenkiste, a member of Hellvete and Sylvester Anfang from Belgium and Sebastian Bischoff (also known as Son of Buzzi) from Switzerland, two musicians that have a long presence in the psychedelic scene. So it would be reasonable not to expect blastbeats and riffs in this recording – for us it’s very encouraging that we are contacted by antifascist musicians even in non-metal genres, and after all the music has many elements that metalheads will like. This is an album with instrumental compositions featuring instruments like acoustic guitar, zither, banjo, organ, violin, etc and the style moves in between acoustic drone music and psych folk. It’s actually quite melodic and relaxing, beautiful music, although with a hint of folk horror creepiness as expected in the background. Those of you that want to travel into far and hidden places where ancient magic and spirits still have a foothold should give it a shot.
