Castle Of Love – Review: Caves beneath the castle ruins (Full album, 2023) | Dungeon synth

Join us today on a little field trip into the ruins of a forgotten civilisation, deep underground and endlessly mysterious! Castle of Love‘s Caves beneath the castle ruins describes the fantastic journey through an ancient realm of forgotten history yet to be newly discovered.

And while of course lacking vocals, the atmosphere of each of these immersive synth tracks seems to build up to a bigger story. The concept is supposed to tell us why this civilisation, once housed in these caverns, came to a halt and vanished. Indeed, this album does transport the atmosphere to imagine all these magickal and now still surroundings, with sometimes epically building melodies, curious staccato themes or mysterious soundscapes. In mix with the wonderful and perfectly chosen illustration made by, especially in these circles, the famous Theodor Knittelsen, Caves beneath the castle ruins is a joyful first work of a project we hopefully can expect more of these creations from!
