Review: Primaevus – An Eldritch Odyssey (Full album, 2024) | Acoustic BM, folk

Dark folk/neofolk may not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of the Western Himalayas part of India, but Primaevus will make it one of the things that do at least.

Mixing atmospheric dark folk influenced by pastoral settings and nature with worship of classic weird fiction like Poe and Ashton Smith, this duo comes to join bands like Sangre De Muerdago, Etxegina and Ulvesang in the team of folk groups that are inspired by history, nature and mysticism but do it without devolving into volkisch bullshit and reactionary nationalisms. Jot one down for the “not assholes” team.
