Review
A large share of the black metal community is interested in magic(“k”) and the occult, which is not really a surprise; the promises of self-improvement and transcendence make complete sense for a genre that is very much rooted in a discomfort with the world as it is and the ideologies that are spewed to keep any change from happening. Sadly, many bands turn that discomfort into fascism and magical thought into Apsûrd excuses for white supremacy and transphobia, failing to understand that capitalism, racism, misogyny, LGBT+phobia and other systems of oppression and exploitation are precisely what led them to that discomfort.
So, it is with pride that we announce that today’s band, Delightful Dekadenss, takes it upon itself to explore the realms of magic with Morningstar in hand, calling on us all to “advance on the lines, anarcho-occultist cabal!“. The work of a certain Brother Murmodeus the Calm, claiming to operate from Istanbul, Türkyie, Delightful Dekadenss brings together black metal, large doses of stoner, synths and a huge heap of psychedelia, paired with an aesthetic that looks like… well, honestly, basically Dark Souls plus rainbows and mystical symbols, to create a very unique sound that is hard to compare with anything else; the closest we can think is a more dirty Hail Spirit Noir inspired by Grime Stone Records thing, and even that is not really good to describe this album.
‘Ala Maji‘ is DD‘s debut, and it opens the gates of will with grimoires blazing, pages flowing, and black flags held high; we, their degenerate brethren, answer! Together we shall crush the idols of tyranny, together we shall crush capitalism and all oppression, and bring forth a REAL golden age where men, women and neither shall no longer kill and dominate!
