Review

This nifty little release might be a promo with just 4 songs, but it packs the punch of many a longer album. A fresh project comprised by alumni of several more well known bands (that we won’t bother mentioning because this is definitely worth being judged on it’s own merit), Dungavenhooter may sound like something Dutch but it’s actually the name of a mouthless crocodilian cryptid from Maine and Michigan that pulverizes it’s victims into powder and snorts them, a fitting moniker for purveyors of pulverizing riffs. Taking cues from extreme hardcore/metal like Protestant, galloping grindeath like later Rotten Sound, the obligatory crustiness of Bolt Thrower and buzzsaw blasts of Trap Them, this is neckbreaking brutality meets stomping breakdowns a la carte from start to finish and done with gusto. Plus epic beards. And sociopolitical lyrics, but not pretty little songs, angry ones, very angry, as befitting both their music and, well, 𝘱𝘰π˜ͺ𝘯𝘡𝘴 𝘒𝘡 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘡𝘩π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨. Turn on, tune in, but don’t drop out, drop some motherfuckers instead.
