Review

Hagoroth is an exceptionally interesting project, and we are premiering its new album, ‘Fabric‘, today. Broadly speaking, Hagoroth’s music can be described as experimental or avant-garde black metal.

Each song takes a completely unexpected turn at some point, and during the first few listens, you’ll often find yourself surprised — whether by melodic heavy or death metal interludes bursting with detail, or moments of black metal austerity and rawness. The vocals shift from piercing screams to almost indie rock–like clean singing; there are acoustic passages, electronic textures, and even an almost trip-hop moment.

While the lyrics are not overtly political, Hagoroth fully shares our anti-fascist and leftist perspective. The song “Holy Island”, for example, reflects on the descent into a fascist regime.

By blending such varied inspirations and styles, Hagoroth has managed to conjure something truly beautiful — and ‘Fabric‘ stands as proof of that.
