Review

For the second time, we welcome Lunar Cult, a dungeon synth project from the UK with a perfectly clear antifascist stance that has already released six albums, the latest of which we are presenting today.

Rooted in the side of dungeon synth music which is definitely influenced by the lo-fi sound of early computer games, Lunar Cult‘s pallete of sounds is characterized by simplicity and austerity, which allows space for the melodies to develop and spread, sometimes even eschewing the typical melodic minimalism of the genre and going into epic and progressive territory, such as in “Everyone You Love Will Die, And So Will Everyone You Hate“.

As you might have seen from the example of this title, the album touches on themes of sorrow and futility, but as the artist states, this time is presented with a more hopeful angle of overcoming adversity. Also to be noted is the wonderful cover artwork.
