Today we have the music video for “Through Thorn and Bone” by Maridia, from their debut album Mouth of Ruin, which came out earlier this year and was previously featured on the Antifascist Black Metal Network.
The crew is from Sweden they are anti-fascists and play sludgy post-hardcore with post-metal, in exquisite style, all with shouted “nausea-like” vocals.
The video has a truly black metal vibe, due to both the setting (a forest in winter) and the atmosphere of darkness and mystery generated by the strange, almost ritualistic movements of the character played by the band’s vocalist. The song could be about transience, the cyclic nature of life and trying to find one’s place in it all. The figure of the shaman, the setting and the lyrics give the impression of something naturalistic, a connection with nature and following its spirits. The changes in the music perfectly match the changes in the character, and the filters used.
A very coherent thing, both musically, emotionally and visually. We strongly encourage you to get familiar with this picture enriched with excellent music.
