Review

Short, strong and bitter, ‘Pena de Cauce Oculto’ by Narkom may be less than 15 minutes long, but it still packs the punch of an espresso mixed with battery acid. An anti-capitalist body horror re-interpretation of Maiakovsky’s “150 Millions”, we like to think Narkom’s music would be met with similar adoration from those who get it and similar disdain by the imaginationless bureaucrat. It’s noisy, heavy and raw, drawing from the sludge and noise rock teachings of Uniform, early Swans and Godflesh, not there to make friends but to draw you a picture, not a pretty one, but one that is imperative to be seen. To quote Lenin (although he meant it as derogatory, we choose to take it as complimentary), “It’s the hooligan communism”, but this time in sound.
