Hello, dear readers and listeners, for another day of premiering yearly blasting records with ABMN! Today is the turn (and return) of Summoner of Blood‘s Periodeater, releasing their new album ‘Pacing in the Maw of Time‘ on September 22.
If you are already familiar with this project, you might already know themes coming up again manifested through their music; following their signature rather paced and, at times, melodic and at others more explosive branch or work within black metal, Periodeater, keep the stance from indigenous emancipatory chants in the spotlight, but even more personal than ever, if we might say.
Featuring Summoner of Blood‘s Grandmother’s picture on the cover, giving a frantic stare within an intricate frame in the shape of a double-headed serpent-like being, leaves a deep feeling of solemn prevalence, a manifesto to the memory of the people, like those among SoB‘s ancestors that won’t be forgotten to build the foundations for a better present and future.
You can also listen to a couple of songs straight from their Bandcamp page, like “The Southern Exile“, and quoting it directly: “As the old ones once said, when quetzal, eagle and condor together fly, the invaders’ enslavement will finally come up and die”
