Review

Piss Trophäe (Piss Trophy). A name as nasty as the sound of this project. Here we have black metal searching for its origins in the second wave. Bitter, evil lyrics dwell in their profanity and directness. This may be for those moments when you feel at your lowest. For when you just need that old-school aggression.

But let’s not be misled by these stereotypes implemented by some old, now less or more conservative and boring bands. Here, this aesthetic is merely a tool, merely a medium to deliver a mood, a style underlying the message and behind these well-thought-out lyrics. Piss Trophäe ventures into the misanthropic developments of psyche and society. Seeking the essence of this Zeitgeist, which tends to leave just a depressing motion in so many these days.

Kaputt‘ is the second seven track long release from Piss Trophäe and it is as mercyless and straight forward as one expect it to be, and though the clean vocals may be not everyone’s style connected to this direction of black metal, the gutural tracks might be the exact thing for folks searching for a project reminiscent of rabm like Operation Volkstod’s ‘Antifascist Black Metal’.

Thundering drums, thrashing guitars, gnarly bass. ‘Kaputt‘ is one of these albums for folks who so often seem to miss the straightforward black metal in this collection of antifascist music.
