Review
Drifting away for a little break from our most usual styles under the extreme metal umbrella, we are visiting today one of our other dearly favorite sonic frame within heavy music: no less than a taste of old school anarcho-punk and hardcore / d-beat from the (re)blooming US scene (Yes that could be a reference to NYC’s Flower).
Poise brings the raw and moody aggression in a familiar format of fast, pissed off, and direct distortion and throbbing riffs, exploring a fierce anti-religious and naturally anti-fascist expression, blasted in your face with a fitting cover of a dead templar lying in a last breath at best. While Poise leaves its clear mark in this recent, first recorded effort, a five-piece self-titled EP, the band really shines in the song progression alongside composition, being both a message and delivering a proper moving wave to be a human wrecking ball of rage and fury in any crowded mosh pit.
Especially now, given the current events in the United States, we find ourselves proud to stand in solidarity with organisations like Poise, fighting towards a better tomorrow, no matter how grim the present may be. We are glad to be here not just as witnesses, but also as the engine to such change, a voice to echo this moving desire and the will to resist and give in to alienation and depersonalization in a reality built in the ruins of every oligarch’s ego.
We might be fucked, but at least we will fall kicking.
