Review
Our beloved blackened punks are back, and this time not only are they breaking swords but they are also singing the praises of bloody polearms, making us love them even more, big pointy stick gang unite! Oh, and their music is nice too. Ok, nice is an understatement, it’s fucking excellent.
From their debut EP, Sword Breaker already stood out among the blackened punk crowd for opting for a 70s and 80s sneer rather than hardcore brutality, and not only do they keep it up in their first album, but they also raise the stakes. Can you imagine the raw choppiness of Poison Ruïn mixed with the anthemic street assault of The Chisel but sprinkled with the purposefully lo-fi epicness of Isengard (the band, not the unwilling hobbit destination)? Sounds weird, right? Well, it’s one of those things that sometimes make you ask “why tho”, until you actually try it and then never go back, like putting salt on your watermelon or starting a union. Sharpen your pikes, fellow peasants and cryptids, we’ve got swords to break and nobles to impale, medieval punk style.
