Of COURSE, we’d do a post on October 7th about the colonialist war Israel is leading in the Middle East against the Palestinians, the Lebanese, and basically everyone who’s not white and fascist, what did you expect? We’re ANTIFASCIST, being anti-Zionist is part of that for anyone who’s serious – and that’s really just a reminder, it’s not up to discussion and Zionists WILL be blocked if they speak up (fuck you in advance btw). Anyway, for the anniversary of this stage of the Nakba, we decided to do some signal boosting for a group that has been systematically silenced by Zionists for a while: Jews worldwide, and especially inside the apartheid state, who are persecuted and attacked for speaking out against the genocide. Today we have a compilation of Israeli anti-Zionists (not all of them Jewish) organized by the Met Ba Pogo festival that brings us 34 artists of the punk sphere, from grindcore and power violence to crust and folk punk etc, all of which, in their own words, “choose to break the silence rather than ignore, take responsibility ourselves and raise our voices against the injustice, against the murder, the destruction, the revenge war and the genocide, against the fascism and messianism that flows through the Israeli government and whole society and against the empty talk about peace while deepening the conflict and the hatred” – and we emphasize track 9, translated “Fags of the Defence Forces“, by queercore group Bnot Khoshekh, as a particularly virulent attack on pinkwashing within the army.
They understand that no people can be free while other people are oppressed, and stand in the same trench as our Network and all others who fight capitalism, colonialism and occupation. And, we want to add, also against anti-semitism, not only of the traditional kind but also Zionist anti-semitism of the type which silences and “un-Jews” all those who struggle so that Never Again is for ANYONE. We’ll fight until Palestine is free, from the river to the sea!
“In Israel today, the common belief is that it’s better to stay silent, wait for everything to be over and put the blame on the government and on Hamas. We choose to break the silence rather than ignore, take responsibility ourselves and raise our voices against the injustice, against the murder, the destruction, the revenge war and the genocide, against the fascism and messianism that flows through the Israeli government and whole society and against the empty talk about peace while deepening the conflict and the hatred. This is our time to choose if we want to keep on being walked by our ego into the absolute victory that will never arrive and live forever on the tip of the sword – or if we want to start and walk towards a real solution, that will include dismantling and correcting injustices and starting to build a new future and hope, for the Palestinians and for us. This compilation contains a variety of bands and artists that chose in the past and still choose today to raise a clear voice against the existing situation, to protest against the injustices, the loss of morals and the disregard for human lives. Against starving, dehumanizing, displacing, murdering, stripping of human rights, occupying. Against the genocide that is committed in Gaza at this very moment. Punk stands first and foremost for freedom, solidarity, and humanity – and our freedom is worth absolutely nothing when it’s taken from the people around us.” The Black List
