Review: Through Mists – Prolific (Full EP, 2024) | Blackened death

Today’s album is Through Mist last release: ‘Prolific‘. Which, in their own words, bring a new breeze to their discography.

Counting 4 songs for 27’28”, this album could be defined as an experimental blackened death metal album, which builds up intensity from the first and shortest track “The Ride” to the last and longest track “Prolific“, a 14-minute long track which brings the additional use of piano and synth. The use of multiple kinds of tortured vocals brings a variety that can be appreciated, especially as they are spotlighted by the mixing of instruments and vocals.

Through Mists is a relatively young band, starting in 2021 with a few singles, and quickly building a discography of three full-length albums that tell one story line. On the day I’m writing this review, they have already announced a fifth album which should go out in a few weeks, we are in the presence of a very prolific artist as Through Mist is a one-person band.
