Review

We’re very happy to welcome back Unmother, the very promising post-black metal band from the UK, whose debut album we featured in 2021, during our first year as a network. Some years have passed since then, but the band is active again, releasing its sophomore album in early 2026 and supporting the mighty Catharsis in Athens a little later.

Today, we are presenting the first single from the album, entitled “My Armor“. The track starts with a dramatic monologue in Greek, which was provided by an actual actor. After that, a furious blast breaks out, accompanied by somewhat moody, slow guitars and the aggressive rasp of new vocalist V.

Unmother is a band that definitely goes for a different and original sound, and you will notice many irregularities in their version of black metal. There is very often some electronic treatment and interesting samples and noises in their tracks, and the guitars often carry psychedelic, weird effects, betraying influences from non-metal genres and bringing to mind images of urban decay and mental distress. The mix of all these elements in the first single is quite eclectic, and we can’t wait to show the whole album very soon!
