Review

Is everyone ready for a Noise Friday with an all-star antifascist guest list?

Venus-426 is back again this soon with yet another of her creations:Deche-Charge Brain Rot Go Brrrr‘.

It is a (practically) 30-minute – 30-song-long album of the type of noise this queer antifascist solo project from the US has accustomed us to: fucks with your attention span by maintaining your concentration, it is musically somehow storytelling, and it is full of antifascist statements. But, hey, we now get a series of humorous puns and some incredible collaborators.

From the very beginning, Venus-426 has been accompanied by the term experimental. This has translated into having no straight line to follow and developing albums that transmit and create different ambiences. We got harsh noise, powerhouse, cyber grind, noisecore… With Deche-Charge Brain Rot Go Brrrr‘ she gathered all her forces with an overall blackened noisecore direction. Aided by some names that are now part of the history of antifascist black metal/RABM.

Of course, we get to hear Tumultuous Ruin -who is known to be one of the names that always come up when there is some sort of communal effort, name it compilation, split, as an invitee…- on “Ruining My Tumultuous“. Eleanor (Lust Hag, Gun Girl) & Forest (Bury Them And Keep Quiet, Ocean Of Ghosts…) who are two very relevant and prolific current trans artists, both come up on “Killing Jack the Chaser” and “Quiet Them to Keep Burying” respectively. We even get to hear the “infamous antifascist agitator” ♥ Karol Tolstoy reaping Bolsonaro on “Bolsonaro the Bozo“, and “Surprise!” with one of the very few representatives of antifascist black metal we know of from Malaysia: IravuMäx from The Divine Accolade & Chains of Tanelorn screams “Rage of Tanelorn“, and so does Starer (Snow Wolf Records) on “A Soliloquy For Humanity“, another couple of names everyone around the scene should know about.

So, because Black Metal Is For A Bunch Of Basement Dwelling Nerds (“BMIFABOBDN“) and this album is such a cool effort and listen,  you should go get yourself some noisecore that happens to be coming out fresh today. We won’t wish to hear more from Venus-426. We know we will, she’s just started and is unstoppable!
