Review
As the US marks Labour Day, celebrating the socially sold myth of work while so many are exploited, erased, and hunted, we premiere a very fitting upcoming album: ‘songs of post-apocalyptic yearnings‘ by VENUS-426.
A 17-track voyage of chaos, grief, and fury, swinging between overt political statements and the internal reckoning of a trans woman navigating a reality increasingly hostile to her existence. The track titles alone narrate the — very real — story of a putrid society and the haunting, “beautiful” terror of being alive amidst its collapse.
As with previous releases, VENUS-426 continues to evolve musically, moving from blackened noisecore and harsh atmospheric walls of sound to experimenting with layers of emotive digital textures and glitchy atmospherics. Tracks like “lost in a sea of darkness” evoke a sense of cosmic dread, haunting the listener with an almost cinematic sweep that contrasts sharply with the raw immediacy of the more abrasive compositions.
In a country ruled by one of the most ridiculous examples of a human being in history, where people don’t matter and rights have taken a massive step backwards, trans existence is resistance — and we stand ready to resist alongside you.
The weight of living is heavy, but VENUS-426‘s will and prolificness are much stronger, so we will hopefully continue to discover more and more of her unique way of making noise and slapping capitalism. For now, press play and let ‘songs of post-apocalyptic yearnings‘ remind capitalism that we are all awake!
