Review

Today, we present a new band from Florida, United States, which introduces itself with a track called “New Spring“. Don’t expect anything either sunny or death metal-like, because this quintet, Cursed Body, plays the darkest of sludge metal music.

This four-minute track doesn’t really sound like spring either (are you surprised?), perhaps more like nuclear winter, combining distorted vocals and doomy guitars with groovy rhythmical playing that shows a bit of stoner influence. The playing and production are really good, clear but not overly shiny, and give a dark, almost industrial edge to the band’s sound. A little before the end, the track breaks down into an old school Deathcrush, Sarcofago-like blastbeat-riff and finishes with a lot of violence.

A very good first offering and sample of this new band, then, and we can’t wait to hear a longer recording.
