Review

Black crust lovers and eco-anarchists, today you’re in luck! From the depths of Istanbul’s underground rises Chaosdögs, a four-piece outfit devoted to tearing down false gods and the machinery of control. And, this is their second, and self-titled release.

Where their debut called for revolt, ‘Chaosdögs‘ embodies it. The album unfolds like a manifesto of anti-religious, anti-technological fury steeped in neo-Luddism, where Chaosdögs offers a critique of how tech has been weaponised by states and corporations to enforce obedience, isolation, and control. Unfortunately, anarcho-primitivist and neo-Luddite philosophies often flirt with purity and nihilism -and have some awful visible proponents, like ableist gender essentialist Kaczynski- tendencies that have carried these ideas into deeply exclusionary territory, erasing the oppressed rather than liberating them. But that’s not what’s happening here.

Musically, they paint a very lyrics-fitting picture: thirty minutes of raw, dense riffs, collapsing tempos, and vocals carved out of exhaustion and anger. It’s punk and black turned into an awakening scream, following the eco-anarchist tradition of early crust acts such as Amebix or Nausea.

So, we fully recommend and embrace Chaosdögs ’ chaos and destruction. Yet always keeping in mind that capitalism thrives on turning our pain into blame and feeds on division, and we aren’t leaving anyone behind. We will be free, but only if all of us are. Press play now!
