Review
We’re very proud to present today a new album from contemporary Palestinian musicians released by the label Mediteranos, an experimental label rooted in Palestinian avant-garde music, which is serving as a connection for many artists globally. Kvathory is a cooperation between electronic musician Abu Ghaltah and our very well known project by now Zalaam, the antifascist atmospheric black metal project which we have featured twice so far. This is the second cooperation between these two artists after the joint track ‘MEDS Brigardes x Zalaam’ and the name of the project is basically a portmanteau of the names of two cats which they are paying homage to, as also a reference to black metal itself (in case you haven’t understood by now, these cats had very black metal names!). The music in this album is very experimental and combines the backgrounds of both musicians; there’s everything from synthwave, to noisy soundscapes, to very sample-heavy electronic tracks, to black metal of course, as each track is completely different and unpredictable in sound and form. “Recorded in a parking lot inside a car… between bombing and sonic attacks… beside a cat…” tells you what you have to know about this album and the conditions in which these artists continue to be creative.
