Review

Industrial black metal by way of France is not something unusual (or France and libidinous art in general), but what is uncommon is when said industrial black metal isn’t just reactionary conservatism masquerading as nihilistic hedonism, so, yay for once!

Flesh Libido treads the line between industrial and metal pretty much equally, with visceral beats meeting bonesaw riffs galore, in a manner that might be described at times as Mysticum going aggrotech or at other times as basement black metal covers of Skinny Puppy songs. All the above are complimentary, obviously; if the description alone does not whet your appetite, then you are probably the wrong audience for this.

The only weird thing, for a band with such a name, this is really not what we’d call horny music. Then again, who can decipher the libido of the flesh? We sure can’t, but we do like the music.
