Review
Hagoroth is back. After their first album, ‘Fabric‘, released in 2025, they return with a self-titled second album. Building on their debut, they continue to deliver extremely interesting experimental black metal, with taints of death metal, DSBM, some folk notes, and even some classical piano.
We can’t help but notice the quality of the artwork, which was already something we had noticed on their first album. It is just magnificent, and completes the music perfectly.
They have kept this profusion of musical inspirations, with changes of rhythms and musicality that will keep surprising you, like a melodeath solo out of nowhere. It really feels like the composer’s mind is bursting with ideas, and yet, they manage to orchestrate all those ideas in a cohesive album.
Each song is different from the previous one; they all match magically, however, showing many faces of the band, which is something we enjoy a lot! This album is more political than the first one, with the whole concept of the album revolving around the forgotten city of Hagoroth. The lyrics tackle issues such as bodily autonomy, misuse of power, and abuse from the powerful, which are themes that are contemporary struggles that we face.
Whether or not you loved their first album that we covered last year, we suggest that you give this one a try.
