Review
Continuing from the trail of their previous release (which we featured here), POISE have returned with a lot more to say in a brief slamming new EP, as per D-beat’s “tradition”. Fast, crushing, fiery and grim; just a continuation as promising as their foundations, the band keep up the pace! With a climax in the US that escalates every day to new stages of social disaster and desolation, POISE summons a dire reference to Emma Goldman when she dubbed the proud and bloody advance of the United States (America) over the rest of nations around and away as the Iron Foot to plant on their necks.
This reckless question never ended, keeps going on, and its consequences keep forcing the people living within its confines to adapt and survive. Through such conception of US’s historical aggression to this day inspired by Goldman, POISE named this powerful new EP, ‘Iron Foot’. Those facing it represented already dead in the moving; as even after one has lost everything, everyone is still dragged by the struggle. And with the will of a fire ever lit, as quickly as we are dragged into the pit from the first burst in the self-titled starting son, with almost 2 minutes per the longest song in this 6-tracks work, we are left with a racing heart after what can easily be compared with a summer storm (even if a tad early given the release date, but as companies break the world and its cycles, we’d say it still fits and more given our reviewing day). For any listener out there that highly values their d-beat way more hardcore influenced (citing the Swedish hxc scene over the more crusty tendencies out there internationally), including frantic and crazy soloing, this is just surely for you!
