Review

Let us start with a “holy shit” to set the right mood for this presentation, not just because of the unholiness that accompanies the aesthetics of this avantgarde-death/black metal duo from the US, but because their discovery opens up an impressive available body of work, both in quality and quantity, of four full length album and 8 eps (!), released during the last 6 years. So yeah, let’s just stop with the endless introductions and just say that “Coding Taste for a Key Swallowed” is an absolutely ripping album of death metal weirdness, technical but not overbearing, that takes the most grotesque characteristics of the riffs of bands like Gorguts, Demilich or middle era, slower Morbid Angel and mixes it with a dirty sludge-iness, heavily-effected vocals and a touch of influence from the black metal side of equivalent bands (also more prominent in their earlier recordings). The music constantly comes you from unexpected angles, creating mental images of non-eucledian structures atop frozen alien planets, or occultic bdsm influenced imagery, like the one often found in their artworks. Myrdød without doubt invite you to a dark trip, will you dare to go through?
