Review
We’re happy to feature the debut album of another new rabm project today, Sëlbstkämpf.
A duo comprised of members from Czechia and Ukraine who have nonetheless participated in other metal bands before as well,”To Master the Machine” is an album that deals thematically with the deconstruction o
f capitalism, or to be specific as they state it themselves, is “a proposal of scientific and philosophical thoughts useful in the urgent task of safe disassembly of capitalism”.
A fitting suggestion for a band named internal struggle, after all where will we begin to dismantle the internalized pieces of capitalism if not on ourselves. You would expect the music to be interesting and thoughtful to go along with such a lyrical proposition, and indeed the musical style of this album is hard to define exactly. Athough described by the band itself as a combination of black and crust, to us it sounds closer to the strangeness of a band like Master’s Hammer. Black metal/metal that sounds kind of “progressive” but not really in style, but because of the unique and unexpected paths that the songs take. A very interesting debut for sure that we would hope to be continued by another album soon.
